New music to get you Festival ready!

With festival season quickly approaching that can only mean one thing...new music is coming our way! Here are five artists with new projects we can look forward to when they play the Festival this summer.

Wilco guitarist Nels Cline's latest project, Macroscope, features the Nels Cline Singers. Though he won't be performing this project at the Festival, it showcases his deft work on guitar and gives listeners a fix to tide you over 'til June. Led by trombone powerhouse, Big Sam Williams, Big Sam's Funky Nation just released their 5th album. The driving force of urban funk, the band is "tight enough (and hot enough) to turn coal into a diamond!" - Orgeonian. Big Sam's Funky Nation (opening for Galactic) - Mon, June 23 at Nathan Phillips Square


On the cutting edge of the Canadian gospel music scene, Toronto Mass Choir celebrates the release of their live worship album, Made for Worship, on May 10. Toronto Mass Choir - Sun, June 22 at Nathan Phillips Square


On May 19, Kenny Wayne Shepherd releases Goin' Home, featuring songs originally recorded by his heroes such as B.B. King, Bo Diddley and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band (with Robert Randolph & The Family Band - Sun, June 22 at Nathan Phillips Square

And keep an eye out for: Myriad3, one of the most persuasive piano trio sounds in contemporary Canadian sounds, who will release their sophomore CD in June. Local Brazilian guitarist and composer, Wagner Petrilli will also release his first solo CD, Cancoes Desatinas, later this summer.
