The Hadar Noiberg Trio will close out their USA / Canadian tour with an intimate performance at the Al Green Theatre on Thursday, November 22 - 8pm.

Classically trained from a young age, Hadar has performed with the Israeli Young Philharmonic Orchestra and studied at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music; she is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Yemen Blues. Since arriving in New York City at the age of 21, Hadar has gone on to establish herself as a major force in the Cuban, Jazz and World music scenes


Joining Hadar on stage are Edward Perez on double bass and Yoni Halevy on drums.

A Canadian jazz icon is honoured

Under his direction, Nimmons 'N' Nine Plus Six was awarded the first ever JUNO Award given in the jazz category -in 1976- for their recording of The Atlantic Suite. 

Last month, the legendary Phil Nimmons was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th annual Ken Page Memorial Trust Gala in recognition of of his exceptional contributions to the development and growth of jazz in Canada. 

Often called the "dean of Canadian Jazz", Nimmons' career has spanned 70 years and includes more than 400 original jazz compositions and countless arrangements. A tireless educator, jazz musician and composer, the indelible imprint Phil Nimmons has left on the Canadian jazz scene is unparalleled. 

Congratulations on your Lifetime Achievement Award.

Applications are now being accepted for local special jazz projects in need of marketing support! Deadline to submit is November 30, 2012.




The TDJ Special Project initiatives returns for a third year, providing successful applicants with marketing and public relations support, including a bursary, from Toronto Downtown Jazz and JAZZ.FM91.

Eligible projects must take place between February 1 and April 1, 2013 and must fall outside of the usual scope of an artist's work.
