Robert Glasper returns!

Well, jazz fans, as promised, here it is: This season's first post Festival jazz concert is..... (*drrrrumrollll*).....

THE ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT!

That's right, following this summer's sold-out performance at Harbourfront Centre and a packed midnight show at Wrongbar, Toronto Downtown Jazz brings Robert Glasper back to the city for one night only on Friday, October 19, 2012 at The Hoxton.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, Rotate This and Soundscapes.

Robi Botos and Friends

Robi Botos is quite simply, one of the most important musicians this country has. This once-in-a-lifetime concert will feature three-time Grammy Award Winner Branford Marsalis, Jeff "Tain" WattsRobert Hurst and many more.

This will be the first time in nearly a decade that Branford, Jeff and Robert - three members of the original Branford Marsalis Quartet - will share a North American stage together.

Tickets are on sale now at Koerner Hall or by calling 416.408.0208

In the news

Last summer when we announced Aretha Franklin as the kickoff to our 25th anniversary, there was no one better suited to open for her than Jordan John.

Much to our delight, Jordan John was recently signed to Verve Records for a historic five-album deal by legendary producer David Foster, who now heads up the label.

From Tuesday's Toronto Star:
"The vocalist / multi-instrumentalist John was first brought to Foster's attention through footage of John opening for Aretha Franklin at last summer's TD Toronto Jazz Festival with thousands in attendance." Read more...

Contest!

We're giving away two pairs of tickets to Robi Botos' special performance. To enter, simply email us and name two musicians Robi has collaborated with. P.S. If you need a hint, check his website!

Good luck! The contest closes Friday, September 28 at 12 noon.
