Soul Sisters

The legendary Chaka Khan kicks off the Festival this summer when she returns for a special night of music at the Kool Haus on Thursday, June 19 - 8pm.

Performing a collection of her greatest hits including, "I'm Every Woman," "I Feel For You," "Through The Wire" and "Sweet Thing", the Queen of Funk has had a rich musical legacy that spans across the decades and genres.

If you saw her perform in 2010 at Yonge Dundas Square, then you'll know Chaka Khan puts on a show!

Opening for the legendary songstress is Shemekia Copeland, the daughter of renowned blues guitarist Johnny Copeland. Highly regarded as a force to be reckoned with in blues, Shemekia is considered the heir to the rich tradition of soul-drenched divas like Ruth Brown and Etta James. In 2012 Copeland was invited to perform at the White House, solidifying her place in the American blues scene. Click on the image to see the performance.

Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 1.855.872.7669. This performance is sponsored by the Toronto Star.
